Madly-in-love Married Couples

Here's celebrating wedded couples who have been together forever but still look like madly-in-love sweethearts. From Gauri and Shah Rukh to Arjun and Mehr and Arbaaz and Malaika, we take a look at them all.

Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan: They have been married since 1991, even before SRK became the superstar he is. Gauri is his anchor, someone who keeps him grounded and she has stuck with him through thick and thin. Their children Aryan and Suhana are being raised to follow Hinduism and Islam. Gauri maintains a low profile; she produces his movies and hosts his parties but doesn't accompany SRK to every second event. She is one of the warmest, most stylish and most hospitable wives in B-town. Together they make a couple that completes each other.

Hrithik and Susanne Roshan: Ah, young love. Hrithik and Susanne are childhood sweethearts. Apparently, he decided to marry her at the age of twelve and finally married her after he became a superstar and became an interior designer. Like SRK and Gauri, this is another interfaith marriage. They have two young sons, Hrehaan and Hridhaan. With his Greek God looks and her delicate beauty and grace, they are one of the most beautiful couples in Bollywood.

Arjun and Mehr Rampal: They were both supermodels at the top of their game so being attracted to each other was only expected. Mehr and Arjun are usually seen hand-in-hand at concerts, premieres and parties. The perfectly paired couple have two daughters, Maahika and Myra. Mehr is Arjun's biggest fan; her prayers and love have helped Arjun go from Bollywood struggler to Bollywood biggie. Their compatibility is amazing.

Twinkle and Akshay Kumar: We all know what a playboy Akshay Kumar was before he got married. Twinkle Khanna tamed him and got him to commit to her. They have one young son, Aarav. Akshay may be a superstar today but when Twinkle married him, he wasn't. She keeps him grounded through success and failure. The interior designer with an elite clientele is one of the most stylish and gorgeous star wives in B-town.

Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan: Bollywood newest couple (they married in April, 2006) is totally in love. Ash and Abhi are hand-in-hand wherever they go and the newlyweds have eyes only for each other. Luckily for them, they are even doing films together, so they get a chance to mix business with pleasure. We can't wait to hear when the stork will visit this perfect-for-each-other twosome.

Arbaaz and Malaika Khan: This is one of the strongest marriages in B-Town in spite of the wife being more popular than the husband. They have a school-going son, Arhaan and are extremely supportive and secure about each other's career choices. Arbaaz and Malaika have been married for ten years but looking at them, you wouldn't be able to tell because they are still so smitten by each other.

Do Stars really live up to their names

They say the name of a child determines the way they live the rest of their lives. So when Prithviraj Kapoor names his son Raj, years later Raj Kapoor did in fact rule Bollywood. Kishore means a ‘young boy’ and if we look at Kishore Kumar this can’t be truer for anyone else!

We take a look at our current lot of top Bollywood actors and see whether they have kept true to their name:

Shah Rukh Khan - The Face of a King
SRK is the closest that anyone can come to living their name. His mother may have named him thinking that he had the face of a King and today millions of fan all over the world agree. No wonder then the superstar is living the life of a true king – big palatial homes, hit movies, huge bank balance and a reign in Bollywood that is truly King size!

Hrithik Roshan – From the Heart
Known to take decisions instinctively and working from the heart and not the head are some of the ways that one can describe this light eyed superstar. Hrithik shot to super stardom with just his first film Kaho Na Pyaar Hai. And after that there has been no looking back for him. Working in films that are produced by papa Rakesh, Hrithik is definitely working from the heart and not by the bank balance!

Akshay Kumar - Eternal, immortal, indestructible
Khiladi Kumar’s name signifies what we have seen Akshay do in his nineteen years in the industry. Fight the odds, kick some serious butt in his films and perform death defying stunts have been synonymous with Kumar’s films. And despite coming from a family with no connection in Bollywood, Akki has gone on to become one of the most successful and richest stars at the Bollywood box office!

Aamir Khan – Prince, Ruler or Commander
Aamir falls a little short of Shah Rukh. While SRK’s name means the face of a king, Aamir’s name means a prince or a commander. And don’t we know all about it! The actor has managed to maintain his command in Bollywood. In a highly competitive industry, Khan stuck to his guns and only worked in one film a year and he has yet created his niche in the industry. For many he is the rules of Bollywood.

Salman Khan – Protector, Conqueror
Salman’s means to protect or conquer. And in the case of the man we all love to hate, this definitely holds true. The actor is extremely protective of all the people in his life. Whether it was his mother, sister, lover or ex-girlfriends, the actor has always been fiercely protective. And at the same time he has loved conquering the women that most men knew were definitely out of their reach!
Another connotation of Salman is also peace and don’t we all know about Salman’s passion for world peace. No wonder he started the Being Human Foundation!

Farhan Akhtar – Merry, Happy
Bollywood’s latest poster boy Farhan’s name means to be happy. And have we ever seen Farhan not smiling? The actor-director has an amazing sense of humour, is the life of the party and is one of the most loved people in the industry.

American critics now rave about Luck By Chance

The success of Mumbai-set "Slumdog Millionaire" seems to be opening the eyes of American movie critics to films set in India going by the rave reviews for Zoya Akhtar's "Luck By Chance".

To the Los Angeles Times, the simultaneous release of 'Luck by Chance' in India, the US, Canada, Britain and elsewhere "seemed charged with an unusual excitement", while New York Times believes Akhtar "shows herself to be a master of extremes".

"A fabulous circus-theme musical number pulls out all the stops, but a scene in which an acting teacher explains why Hindi stars have to be more talented than those in Hollywood is a subtle comic gem," said New York Times' Neil Genzlinger.

To the Los Angeles Times' Mark Olsen, Akhtar displays assured storytelling skills in a film about chasing fame in India's movie industry.

Comparing the film to "Slumdog Millionaire," Olsen said the film actually bears a stronger resemblance to another Oscar contender, "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button".

"Both films are willing to face storytelling clichés head-on and refashion them not by winking irony, but with a clear-eyed sincerity matched by a skilful knowingness of when to ease off just enough to keep things from toppling into inanity," he said.

"Imagine 'A Star Is Born' if Judy Garland's character had been devious, manipulative and ruthlessly ambitious," said the Film Journal critic.

"Then add insightful satire, wryly funny dialogue, a dollop of drama, and one knockout musical number that plays like Cirque du Soleil on speed, and you've got this latest entry from the mainstream Indian fantasy factory called Bollywood.

"Most of the musical numbers play under montages, but there is one full-out, film-within-a-film full production: the joyous 'Baawre', the aforesaid circus-set number that's worth the price of admission alone. OK, that's hyperbolic. But it is a ravishing cornucopia of colour, sounds, shapes and sizes, as dazzling as the movie is down-to-earth."

Movie website flickchick.com said "poised somewhere between art movie and mainstream feature," Akhtar's "satirical skewering of the ugly realities behind celluloid dreams breaks no new ground".

"But it's a sharp, sly variation on the theme, starting with the bittersweet opening montage that pays tribute to all those nameless, faceless drones who keep the machinery humming," it added.

Hrithik flies solo

Hrithik Roshan, who plays Kangna Ranaut’s dance teacher in Kites, was so upset with his US-based choreographer Flexi’s assistants, that he took it upon himself to choreograph his dance steps.

According to our source, the assistants were unable to get the right moves for the heavy-duty dance number. The source tells us, “Hrithik wanted nothing but the best and he even flew down an international choreographer, Flexi, who had earlier worked with the actor on some ads. But, Hrithik was very unhappy with the way things were shaping up as far as the steps were concerned. At one point, Hrithik started regretting his choice of choreographer.”

Confirms a unit member, “Hrithik was not satisfied with the steps and kept pushing the choreographer and his assistants to come up with something better. They did show him a variety of steps, but they failed to meet Hrithik’s expectations. When they could not come up with something extraordinary, Hrithik got fed-up and started choreographing his own steps. He’d then rehearse the steps for hours.”

Apparently, Hrithik wanted to push his limits with the song. Our source tells us, “His intention was to better what he had already done.”

Apart from not getting steps right, the choreographer also reportedly had a serious tiff with an assistant director, which aggravated the situation even further.

Zayed crazy about Hrithik

Hrithik Roshan is busy collecting accolades and trophies for Jodhaa Akbar and one man who is extremely proud of his achievements is his bro-in-law Zayed Khan.

When we last spoke to Zayed, we found out that the Khan wanted to do something ‘monumental’ as well. “I’d love to play a historic role, but I have miles to go before I get to do what Hrithik is doing. Hrithik is extremely hard working and for me to reach there will require a lot of maturity,” said Zayed. Now his saala’s compliment must be no less than an award for Hrithik... after all family comes first, right Hrithik?

Hrithik Roshan and Susanne learning Spanish

Hrithik Roshan had learned the basic of Spanish to pull off some of the sequences in his upcoming film Kites. But now we hear the actor has got so good at it that he plans to continue learning it and has also enrolled wife Suzanne for Spanish lessons.

"He was learning Spanish because in Kites he had to speak some basic lines. But after having spoken with Barbara (Mori) off sets too, he decided to take it further. And thanks to his interest, Suzanne got keen as well. And so now both of them are taking Spanish lessons," says a source close to the actor.

"They have got themselves a teacher who comes home and teaches them. And then both of them speak to Barbara who has become a really close friend of the family's," adds the source.

When contacted, Suzanne confirmed the news to us. "Yes we both are learning Spanish but I'm not comfortable in speaking now," says the elusive Mrs. Roshan.

Hrithik Roshan's Kites is one of the most awaited films of 2009. It is slated for release around Diwali later this year.

The actor suffered an injury on Tuesday evening while filming. During the shot, a piece of glass pierced his wrist and he was immediately rushed to the newly opened Ambani Hospital in Lokhandwala and was later discharged.

Police comes to Hrithik's house

The last 12 months have been eventful for Hrithik Roshan so when it was time for his 35th birthday on January 10, wife Sussanne decided it was time to celebrate. She organised a big party at their home in Juhu on January 9.

Also celebrating at Hrithik’s bash were Farhan Akhtar and Farah Khan, whose birthdays are on January 9.

The Roshan parties are generally quiet, but this time things got a bit noisy. The celebrations, attended by several celebs, picked up at midnight and by 2.00am the music got so loud it disturbed some of the neighbours who complained to police about the same.

The cops arrived shortly and ordered the volume to be lowered, and left. Barely half an hour after their departure the music went up again and continued till the party ended around 4.00am.

Wishing Hrithik Roshan a very happy Birthday

Friends... what's up with this month! Practically most of the stars (read 'superstars') have ascended from the heavens to be one amongst us and shine (quite literally) in Bollywood! Don't believe us? Then, well, here's the sample list: Right from the start of the year, one has witnessed the birthdays of legendary actors like Bipasha Basu, Vidya Balan, Koena Mitra, Irrfan Khan, Farhan Akhtar...to name a few! Requesting you all to hold your breath as we announce the name of today's Birthday Boy...it is none other than Hrithik Roshan!

Not many know that this dude's debut was actually as a child artist in the film Aasha, when he was merely six years old! Later on, he went onto play minuscule but prominent roles in Aap Ke Deewane and Bhagwan Dada. It's only after that he went onto assist his director father in the productions of Karan Arjun and Koyla; films that went onto become not just milestone but also landmark films. Hrithik made his full fledged debut with the smash hit Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai, a film that gave the world India's answer to the likes not just the dancing tornado Michael Jackson but also the acting legends Robert DeNiro, Marlon Brando and others. Hrithik was indeed India's first ever all-in-one superstar, whose mere name's enough for any film to see everyone laughing their way to the Swiss Bank, nonetheless!

Join Bollywood Buzz as we wish him a very happy Birthday, simply by posting your wishes below:

Hrithik spotted with three ladies

Oakwood Premier, a block of serviced apartments in Juhu, has a star visitor these days. Hrithik Roshan is seen three regularly. And guess what, he comes to meet there ladies in an apartment.

But hold on, they are none other than his “Kites” co-star Barbara Mori, her mom and her sister who have just come back from a holiday in Goa.

Hrithik wanted them to be very comfortable in Mumbai and hence he himself searched for an apartment wherein the trio ladies would be comfortable and feel special. He also arranged for their traveling not only from the sets but also to site-see around Mumbai.

Hrithik is paying a whopping Rs.60,000 a day for the apartment. And Barbara's mother just can’t stop talking about Hrithik and his hospitality!

Hrithik Roshan plays a Salsa instructor in Kites

Hrithik Roshan plays a Las Vegas based Salsa dance instructor in Kites. And Rakesh Roshan, the producer of the film, is sparing no cost to ensure that his son, who is already one of the best dancers in Bollywood, surpasses his previous performances. Totally motivated, Hrithik has set his best foot forward, and he is working extremely hard on his new moves. So much so that he hardly meets anyone.

The Roshans have got US-based choreographer Flexy Stu to choreograph a dance sequence in the film. Presently, the song being shot in a suburban studio in Mumbai is picturised on Hrithik and Kangna Ranaut. Supposedly, it is a crucial song during which Kangna, who plays a rich siren in the film, realizes her love for the dance instructor. The film also stars South American beauty Barbara Mori, who is expected in India in early January to shoot her part.

'Bollywood 2009" predicts numerologist Niraj Mancchanda

Numeroloigst Niraj Mancchanda gives us his predictions for some of the biggest stars in Bollywood for 2009 including Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Aamir Khan. According to Niraj, 2009 is going to be Aamir's year! Read on to find out what is in store for your favorite stars!

Hrithik Roshan will be loved in Kites. First three days of the movie's opening will be phenomenal. Hrithik should consider adding the letter 'c' in his name so it spells Hrithick Roshan. This will help him avoid accidents and injuries. His name presently comes to number 43, same as Amitabh Bachchan and we all know that Big B has also had health issues.

Niraj goes on to say that Harman Baweja will be appreciated in Victory, Abhishek Bachchan will be loved in Delhi 6 and Ranbir Kapoor's first hit movie will likely be Rajniti. Apart from these three films, their other releases are not expected to do so well at the box office. He recommends that Harman spell his name as Harrmann Bawejaa. However, if he has decided to stick to the original spelling, and added S in middle (S for Singh, as he is Sikh) Harman S Baweja, this will help him succeed to some extent. As for the other two, Abhishek should use his father's initial and be Abhishek A Bachchan and Ranbir should spell his name as Raanbir or Raanbier Kapoor which should come as good luck in their career growth. If they decide to stick to their original spellings, their career could always be cyclic with huge variables of more flops than hits.

Shah Rukh Khan has two films in 2009 (Billoo Barber and My Name Is Khan). It's a money making year for Shah Rukh as 2009=11=1+1=2 and his number is also 2.

Salman Khan is not going through a good phase as many of his films bombed at the box office in 2008 and many more are expected to in the coming year. He should get the titles of his films strong according to their numerological values. As it is now, most of the titles of his films releasing in 2009 come to unlucky numbers. Katrina Kaif is a very lucky girl for others. However, her string of flops have begun from Yuvvraaj and she will have many more in 2009. Katrina's luck will not be able to neutralise Salman's low phase in 2009.

Kareena Kapoor's number is 3. In 2009, she will have 2 hit movies (3 Idiots and Kambakkth Ishq) but will not get much credit for these films like she got for Jab We Met. Aamir Khan will likely take away all the credit for 3 Idiots and many others will be mentioned for Kambakkth Ishq. It's a good year for her as far as success is concerned but not credit. For the credit, she will have to wait for 2010. If Kareena decides to spell her name as Karrinaa Kapoor, it will make her number 42 (same as Shah Rukh) and this should give her enough luck to churn out ten more Jab We Mets, in terms of success and full credit on her shoulders.

Akshay Kumar's destiny number is 5 which is derived by adding the full date of birth. He turned 41 and so the number 5 has been activated again. His luck has now become cyclic. At this age, he had a hit Welcome and then a flop Tashan and then Singh is Kinng did huge business but entailed losses to many distributors in India due to its high Cost. His next, Chandni Chowk to China, will open well but again, due to its cost, it will entail losses to Warner Brothers or at maximum, manage to recoupe its cost. His only hit in 2009 will be Kambakkth Ishq, which has the same number numerologically as Maine Pyar Kiya and numerologically titled by me. The entire credit for the film's success will go to the lucky producer Sajid Nadiadwala, director Sabbir Khan and Sylester Stallone, and not surprisingly, Aanuu Mallik is expected to start a new cycle, which will take his career to another level. Furthermore, the 100 Crore Blue will be released, which comes to same numerological number as Dil Se, so I do not even have to say its box office merit. According to numbers, he will have many flops after Blue but in 2010, Akshay will once again bounce back to giving many hits but his rollercoaster of hits and flops will continue.

2009 belongs to Aamir Khan. 3 Idiots comes to the same number as Devdas; his wife Kiran's movie Dhobi Ghaat comes to number of Maine Pyar Kiya and his other home production, Delhi Belly which stars his nephew Imran Khan, comes to the same number as Chak De India. Aamir is born on 14/03/1965 = 1+4+3+1+9+6+5 = 29 = 2+9 = 11 = 1+1 = 2 which is his destiny number. Year 2009 is also number 2 and Aamir also completes 20 years of his career as an actor. Therefore, number 2 (his destiny number) will make it the biggest year of his career!

It will be interesting to see how close his predictions come and we do wish luck to the all the unlucky numbered stars of 2009!

After SRK, Hrithik into Gulf dealings!

Superhero Hrithik Roshan is getting business savvy and for that he is following in the footsteps of his friend and one of the most successful film personality, one whose business dealings are always extremely profitable and respectable. Hrithik-Barbara lovestory transcends boundaries!

Anurag Basu is super excited about his latest film under production KITES, starring Hrithik Roshan opposite Mexican Barbara Mori, which is about love transcending cultural and language barriers.

Here, Barabar Mori's character speaks only Spanish and while that of Hrithik's only Hindi, but despite of this barrier they fall in love with each other. But in spite of all the talks about steamy scenes the movie is not about sex but is an intensely romantic film.

There is some spice too in the story with a love triangle involving Kangana Ranaut's character and a thriller twist towards the end.

Director Anurag is working with the very talented and handsome Hrithik Roshan for the first time. He says, "Hrithik and I really enjoyed working together. I always respected him as an actor but now I respect him as a human being too. Hrithik and I made the film honestly, just like we wanted to."

Anurag was amazed by Hirthik's professionalism in spite of a knee injury.

"Before every shot I would be worried about Hrithik's knee. If anything happened to him, then our entire outdoor shooting schedule would've gone for a toss. But Hrithik asked me not to compromise the shots under any circumstance. I'm awed by the way he managed, without ever letting the shoot halt. He even did the few action scenes we have in the film himself."Says Anurag.

And it is learnt that Anurag is impressed by Barbara Mori too. He stated, "The day I narrated bout KITES I knew I had chosen the right actress. I've this bad habit of narrating very fast. Barbara is a Mexican actress, so she is not aware of Hindi and also less familiar with English. But the way she understood my story, hats off to her. Her expressions changed while I was narrating the story. I've never seen any actor responding this way. Even though she comes from a different culture, the emotions of love and relationships are the same. Her approach was definitely different."

KITES will be complete by January and Basu says he is nervous because of the huge expectations surrounding the multilingual film and hopes that it delivers.

We too want the movie on which he worked so hard to deliver maximum results.

Hrithik meets Michael Jackson

Hrithik Roshan couldn't believe his eyes when pop king Michael Jackson casually walked into his make-up room in LA, where he was stationed for the shooting for Kites being directed by Anurag Basu.

No one was aware that the pop singer was going to drop in on the set. A source reveals, "Hrithik was in his make-up room when Michael's two bodyguards entered.

He was taken aback to see these burly men enter the room. On questioning them, he learnt that they were Michael's body guards."

It is believed that the singer had come to do a recce as he was shooting the next day in the same bungalow.

It was a coincidence that Jackson dropped in the same day as the Kites team was shooting.

Sources from the film reveal that Hrithik also took pictures with Jackson.

"Michael introduced himself to Hrithik. It was a funny scene to see someone like him who the whole world knows introducing himself.

The two spoke for a short time and then Micheal left."

The singer who is usually seen wearing gloves, didn't have them on, that day.

British super model Kate Moss had dropped in on the sets of Dostana in Miami where John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan were shooting.
